April 26th Meeting: Celebrating People in Action-National Volunteer Week/Global Youth Service Days

1. F-5 Fest update:  Member of the F-5 Fest Team.  Sidney stated that the logo is being made.  No updates on Holi Fest or T-shirts

2. Global Youth Service Days: VOLUNTEERS NEEDED.  SIGN UP http://casadyplacestoserve.blogspot.com/

Friday: Boys and Girls Club with Mrs. Clay, Arts Festival with alumna Paige Brown, Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon Volunteer Booth @ Cox Center.  No participants expected to attend either opportunity

Saturday: Arts Festival: Face Painting Kendal and  Children's Art Field with Sarah Many Cyclones participating.  Lists of names and hours will be provided by day chairs to Mrs. Clay

Sunday: OKC Marathon Cheer/Water Stop 7-10 AM with Jack B. and Carleigh B; Children's Fair with Abby.  Very a few volunteers participating, but signs for the OKC Memorial Marathon, water stop by Casady on Britton road are ready and they are amazing.  Thank you Mr. Bonfiglio, Mrs. Seitter, Mrs. Czerwinski, and Mrs. Lynn for your help inspiring your students to support the marathon with their thoughts and drawings.

3. JOIN HANDS DAYS: Father Youmans, Rachel Christie, F-5 Fest

May 2: Johnnie's Night.  Movie sold out.  Working on closer venue for ice cream social. Decided to cancel the ice cream reflection due to bad weather.  Expected at least 20 students from Casady Middle Division and their families.  Thank you Father Youmans for all your efforts and Rachel Christie for the inspiration

May 9: Johnnie's Night.  The movie screening did not make it  President Volunteer Award and Service-Learning 2nd Place from the Center of Spiritual and Ethical Education Award delivered at Chapel MD by YAC senior chairs Rebekah and Caitlin.  Ice cream social reception for awards winners. teachers (teacher appreciation week) and YAC members at Woods Community Room. 

May 23: Johnnie's Night, and HOLI, Casady Youth LEAD leaving for Boston morning of 24th.  Holi, t-shirts delivered on the 22nd.  Holi took place with about 15 participants which included 2 MD teachers and 2 new freshmen.

MD Holi Fest was moved to May 22 at 4:00 PM.  International Club is buying powder for their fun fest. MD Holi did not take place in 2013.

April 19th Meeting and April Service: Celebrating People in Action

Agenda and minutes

1.  F-5 Fest.  Mrs. Hanneman spoke at Chapel.  Reminders of Johnnie's Thursdays! and kick-off on National Volunteer Week.  YAC will have an end of the year celebration and last meeting of the year on April 26th.  Goodie thank you bags will be provided to traveling YAC members as a thank you for their year of service.  STUCO change Blue Day to Caddyshack Day.  No blue candy needed.

Caitlin H. requested pitta bread, humus, cuties, and fruit drinks for the celebration/reflection meeting

3. National Volunteer Week/Global Youth Service Days

Friday, April 26: Boys and Girls Club, Arts Festival (Paige Brown will provide bracelets for volunteers), Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon @ Cox Center needs volunteers

Saturday, April 27: Arts Festival Day:  Morning with Sarah C. @ Children's Activity Field.  Afternoon with Kendall @ Face Painting

Sunday, April 28: 

6:00-10:00 Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon Cheering Water stop in south area of chapel entrance.  The north side of the Britton road is opened for traffic, the south side of the runners

10:00-6:00 PM Childrens Fair by Jimmy's. Global Youth Service Day Project by Abby J.

First April Meeting: ????

National Volunteer Week: at Casady it will be Week of 28th to accommodate STUCO's Crazy Fun Week and connect to Join Hands Day.

Delivery of President Service Awards will be Thursday, May 9th at Chapel. Group picture this Thursday.  We are working on getting volunteer ice cream to celebrate.

Global Youth Service Day, April 28th : Abby R's project with Feed The Children

Join Hands Day, Thursday, May 2: Dinner Movie and Ice Cream to bust community needs

Thursday F-5 Fest Activity after finals: Holy and Join Hands Evening @ proposal, pending final approval by pertinent administrators

End of the year YAC reflective Celebration May 10th.

DINNER--- MOVIE---REFLECTIVE ICE CREAM SOBREMESA

MAY 2, JOIN HANDS EVENING, 7:30 PM, QUAIL SPRINGS  20 people MD and UD students, parents and teachers attended!

Join hands with Assistant Chaplain Father Tim Youmans, 6th grader, Rachel Christi,  CASADY YAC F-5 Fest Project (Service Action Council Project ), and RunHers Women's Association, TAKING STEPS BUSTING COMMUNITY NEEDS    

DINNER: Have a Johnnie's dinner with family and friends at a convenient time for your schedule. Say Casady YAC when ordering your meal on any Thursday in the month of April and May.  Johnnies will donate a percentage of the sales to Casady YAC F-5 Fest fundraising to honor Bennett, an infant Cyclone battling Pearson's Syndrome.  The Bob Stoops Champions Foundation https://www.facebook.com/pages/Bob-Stoops-Champions-Foundation/114155395314738?id=114155395314738&sk=info will match what YAC's F-5 Fest events fundraise.  In the month of April we collected $275.00


GIRL RISING SCREENING:
Join hands with Assistant Chaplain Father Tim Youmans and 6th grade Casady student, Rachel Christi who believes, "Girl Rising is an AWESOME MOVIE everyone should see", Casady YAC F-5 Fest Project and RunHers Women's Association.  

To attend the RunHers Women's Association screening of Girl Rising purchase $ 10 tickets online ASAP at @ http://gathr.us/screening/2350). 

The movie is the centerpiece of 10x10 – a global campaign to educate and empower girls. A portion of Girl Rising ticket sales go to support girls’ programs around the world through the 10x10 Fund for Girls’ Education. The Fund goes to 10x10’s high-impact network of non-profit partners and leaders in girls’ education: A New Day Cambodia, CARE, Girl Up/United Nations Foundation, Partners in Health, Plan International USA, Room to Read, UNICEF, and World Vision.

SCREENINGS OF GIRL RISING SCHEDULE ON MAY 9TH AND MAY 23 @ 7:30 @ Quail Springs Theatre did not make it.  There is a screening at Crossroads on May 30th @ Crossroads Theater.  Purchase tickets now online at  http://gathr.us/.  100 people minimum for the screening to tip.

REFLECTIVE ICE CREAM SOCIAL @ Johnnie's. Say Casady YAC when ordering your meal.  A % of sales goes to Casady YAC F-5 Fest honoring Bennett.
