MINUTES FROM YAC MEETING
1. Thank you to all who came at 7:00 a.m. to plant pinwheels. They filled with color our paths to class. We made a total of 300 pinwheels between language classes, Boys and Girls Club, Food Bank and Rebuilding Together. We also received pinwheels from Ralph Emerson Library, Mercy School, and the Statesman Club at the Vineyard.
2. I SEE PEACE ICEE Give away: Service-Learning spent $50 in icees and received 25 visions of peace.
3. Martin spoke about Boys and Girls Club volunteering and the opportunities to serve at OCU, Rebuilding Together and the Interfaith Tour. Then, he gave the floor to freshman chair, Anne H who requested phone numbers to remind everyone about meetings and project opportunities. Sophomore Chair, Jessica G. took the floor and shared her idea of creating a service week similar to Balto Week.
Finally Mrs. Clay spoke on behalf of International Day of Peace: Lives are being safe, the day is working! Sophia, Molly, Conner, Anne, and Venus were volunteering at OCU.
In the absence of senior chair leaders of Students Against Hunger due to sports commitments, Mrs. Clay stated that September 30th YAC has an opportunity to volunteer at the Food Bank along with the Jewish Federation and Mercy School to start awareness of Students Against Hunger and maybe make a video at the Food Bank to raise awareness of the work this organization does fighting hunger.
4. Amist bubble of hope for world peace, the meeting adjourned.
